Direct-indicating viscometer

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001103

An instrument that measures the shear stress of a fluid at several specific shear rates, allowing for direct calculation of its rheological properties. The device, also known as a rotational viscometer, consists of a rotor and a bob that create a defined shear environment for the fluid sample. Standard oilfield models provide readings at six speeds (600, 300, 200, 100, 6, and 3 rpm) to determine plastic viscosity and yield point.
