Plastic fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002817
A non-Newtonian fluid that exhibits a yield point, meaning it requires a certain amount of shear stress to initiate flow. Once the yield point is exceeded, its shear stress is directly proportional to the shear rate, similar to a Newtonian fluid. Many drilling fluids behave as plastic fluids, characterized by their yield point and plastic viscosity.
