Herschel-Bulkley fluid
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001810
A non-Newtonian fluid model that exhibits both a yield stress and shear-thinning behavior. It begins to flow only after a certain shear stress is applied, and its viscosity decreases with increasing shear rate. Drilling fluids often exhibit Herschel-Bulkley characteristics, requiring specific rheological models for accurate hydraulic calculations.
