Bingham plastic model
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000343
A two-parameter rheological model describing a fluid that behaves as a rigid solid at low stress and flows as a viscous fluid at stress above a certain threshold. The model defines fluid behavior using two values: the yield point, which is the stress required to initiate flow, and the plastic viscosity. This model is a common approximation for the flow behavior of many types of drilling muds, although it is less accurate than the Herschel-Bulkley model.
