Hertz
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001811
The standard unit of frequency, representing one cycle per second, used to measure the rate of oscillation or vibration in seismic waves. In seismic exploration, it quantifies the number of wave crests that pass a fixed point per unit of time. Seismic frequencies typically range from a few hertz for deep penetration to several hundred hertz for high resolution.
