Term · Computing and IT · MLC-T-CMP-000523

The SI unit of frequency, defined as one cycle per second, used to measure the rate of periodic events. In computing, it quantifies the clock speed of processors, the refresh rate of monitors, and the frequency of radio waves in wireless communication. A processor with a clock speed of 4 gigahertz (GHz) performs four billion clock cycles per second, while a monitor with a 144 Hz refresh rate redraws the screen image 144 times each second.
