Diffraction stack
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001079
A specialized seismic imaging product created by isolating and stacking only the diffraction energy from the pre-stack data, while suppressing the more powerful reflection energy. This process highlights small-scale geological discontinuities like faults, fractures, and karst features that are below the resolution of conventional reflection imaging. The resulting image provides a high-resolution view of structural complexity, separate from the standard migrated seismic section which is dominated by reflections.
