Coherence map
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000733
A seismic attribute display that highlights discontinuities and changes in seismic waveform similarity, indicating geological features such as faults, fractures, and stratigraphic boundaries. It is derived from seismic reflection data by measuring the similarity between adjacent seismic traces. Areas of low coherence typically correspond to structural or stratigraphic disruptions within the subsurface.
