Velocity map

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004023

A two-dimensional representation of seismic wave velocities within a subsurface volume, derived from processing seismic reflection data. The map displays how velocity changes laterally across a specific geological layer or depth, which is used to convert seismic travel times into depth measurements for structural mapping. Variations in velocity on the map can indicate changes in lithology, porosity, or fluid content within the rock.
