Difference map

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001068

A map created by subtracting the grid values of one data set from another on a point-by-point basis, used to visualize changes between two states or datasets. In 4D seismic analysis, a difference map of amplitude or time-shift attributes between a baseline survey and a monitor survey highlights areas of the reservoir where fluid saturation or pressure has changed. The resulting map displays positive, negative, or zero values indicating the location and magnitude of the change.
