Stochastic analysis

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003622

The study of systems that involve randomness or uncertainty, often using probability theory to model and understand their behavior. In reservoir characterization, stochastic analysis is applied to account for the inherent variability and incomplete knowledge of subsurface properties. It involves generating multiple possible outcomes to quantify the range of uncertainty in reservoir performance predictions.
