Stochastic methods

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003623

Modeling approaches that incorporate randomness and probability to represent the inherent uncertainties and variability in subsurface geological properties. These methods generate multiple equiprobable realizations of a reservoir model, each honoring available data but differing in spatial distribution. Monte Carlo simulations are a common example, providing a range of possible outcomes for reservoir performance.
