Flood front
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001464
The leading edge or interface of an injected fluid as it moves through a reservoir during a secondary or enhanced oil recovery operation. This front separates the region of the reservoir already swept by the injection fluid (like water or gas) from the unswept region containing mobile oil. The shape and stability of the flood front are analyzed to predict sweep efficiency and prevent premature breakthrough of the injected fluid at production wells.
