Preflush
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002903
A slug of fluid injected into a reservoir ahead of the main displacing fluid in an enhanced oil recovery process. Its purpose is to condition the reservoir by altering wettability, removing undesirable ions, or establishing favorable salinity conditions. This prepares the reservoir for optimal performance of the subsequent chemical flood, such as a surfactant or polymer flood, by minimizing adsorption or precipitation.
