Detergency
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-001034
The ability of a substance, typically a surfactant solution, to remove oil or other contaminants from a solid surface. In enhanced oil recovery, detergency is a key mechanism by which surfactants mobilize residual oil trapped in porous media. This process involves reducing the interfacial tension and altering the wettability of the rock surface.
