Trapped oil
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003907
Hydrocarbons that remain immobile within the pore spaces of a reservoir rock after primary and secondary recovery methods have been applied. This oil is typically held by capillary forces, preventing its flow to production wells. Enhanced oil recovery techniques aim to mobilize and recover this trapped oil by altering fluid properties or reducing interfacial tension.
