Residual oil saturation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003125
The fraction of pore space in a reservoir rock that remains occupied by oil after natural depletion or secondary recovery methods, such as waterflooding, have been applied. This oil is trapped by capillary forces and cannot be recovered by conventional means. It is a key parameter in evaluating the potential for enhanced oil recovery techniques.
