Small-pore water
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-003473
Water held within the microscopic pore spaces of a rock formation that is not easily displaced by hydrocarbons or other fluids. This water is bound by capillary forces and surface tension, making it immobile under normal reservoir production conditions. It contributes to the total water saturation but does not flow, thus not affecting hydrocarbon production.
