Bound-fluid log
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000434
A measurement, derived primarily from nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) tools, that quantifies the volume of fluids trapped in the smallest pores of a rock. These bound fluids, mainly water, are held by capillary forces or adhere to clay minerals and are considered immobile and unproducible. The log distinguishes this bound fluid from the free fluid that can flow, providing a direct measurement of irreducible water saturation.
