Bound water
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000431
Water within a rock's pore space that is immobile due to capillary forces or adsorption to mineral surfaces, particularly clays. This water does not participate in fluid flow and is not produced with hydrocarbons. It is a component of the irreducible water saturation and affects the interpretation of resistivity logs.
