Ray tracing
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008421
A computational technique used to model the path of light or sound rays through a medium, accounting for phenomena such as reflection, refraction, and scattering. In atmospheric science, it is applied to simulate the propagation of electromagnetic waves through the atmosphere, aiding in the understanding of mirages, halos, and radio wave propagation. This method is also used in remote sensing to correct for atmospheric effects.
