Propagation effect
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008179
The alteration of an electromagnetic or acoustic wave as it travels through the atmosphere. This includes phenomena such as absorption, scattering, refraction, and reflection, which can modify the wave's amplitude, phase, and direction. These effects are particularly relevant for remote sensing applications, such as radar and lidar, and for radio communication.
