Differential phase shift

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004988

The difference in phase between horizontally and vertically polarized radar signals as they propagate through precipitation. This measurement provides information about the shape and orientation of hydrometeors, such as raindrops or ice crystals. It is a key parameter in polarimetric radar for distinguishing precipitation types.
