Differential reflectivity
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-004989
A dual-polarization radar metric representing the ratio of the reflected power from horizontally polarized waves to that from vertically polarized waves. It provides information about the shape of hydrometeors, as non-spherical particles like large raindrops or melting hail reflect the two polarizations differently. Differential reflectivity is a dimensionless quantity, typically expressed in decibels (dB).
