Radar polarimetry

Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-008272

A radar technique that transmits and receives electromagnetic waves with different polarizations to gain more detailed information about the shape, size, and orientation of hydrometeors. By analyzing parameters like differential reflectivity and specific differential phase, it can distinguish between rain, hail, snow, and other precipitation types. Dual-polarization radar is a common implementation.
