Dual-polarization radar
Term · Meteorology and atmospheric science · MLC-T-MET-005176
A weather radar that transmits and receives radio waves with both horizontal and vertical polarizations. By comparing the returned signals from the two orientations, it provides detailed information on the size, shape, and type of precipitation particles. The U.S. NEXRAD radar network was fully upgraded to dual-polarization technology by 2013.
