Critical angle
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000885
The angle of incidence at which a seismic wave traveling from a slower medium to a faster medium is refracted along the interface between the two media. Beyond this angle, total internal reflection occurs, and no energy is transmitted into the second medium. This phenomenon is observed in both P-waves and S-waves.
