Critical damping

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000886

A condition in a vibrating system where the damping force is just sufficient to prevent oscillation, allowing the system to return to equilibrium in the shortest possible time without overshoot. This state is often desired in seismic instruments to achieve accurate and stable measurements. It represents the boundary between underdamped and overdamped systems.
