Critical flow rate
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000887
The production rate at which a flow-related limit is reached in a well, with a meaning that depends on the problem. In a gas well it is the minimum rate whose gas velocity keeps liquids moving up the tubing, below which liquid accumulates and loads the well. In an oil well with sand production or coning it is the maximum rate that can be held before the sand influx or the cone of water or gas begins.
