Peak
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002724
The point of maximum positive amplitude on a seismic trace, representing a crest in the waveform. In seismic interpretation, peaks and troughs are used to identify reflection events and correlate them across different traces. The polarity convention of the seismic data determines whether a peak corresponds to an increase or decrease in acoustic impedance.
