Autocorrelation
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-000218
A mathematical operation that compares a signal with a time-shifted version of itself, revealing repeating patterns or periodicities within the data. In seismic processing, it identifies the presence of multiples and assesses the wavelet shape. This technique is applied to seismic traces to analyze their internal consistency and to design deconvolution operators.
