Embedded wavelet
Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-004312
The effective seismic waveform that is convolved with the Earth's reflectivity series to form a recorded seismic trace. This wavelet represents the combined signature of the energy source, recording instruments, and filtering effects of the propagation path, such as attenuation. Since the embedded wavelet is not directly measured, it is statistically estimated from the seismic data itself, assuming properties like a minimum-phase or zero-phase character.
