Semisubmersible

A mobile offshore drilling unit (MODU) that floats on pontoons submerged below the water surface, providing stability in rough seas. These rigs are held in position by anchors or dynamic positioning systems. Semisubmersibles are used for drilling in deep water where jack-up rigs cannot operate.
