Moveout

Term · Oil and gas · MLC-T-OAG-002433

The difference in arrival time of a seismic reflection event recorded at different offsets (distances) from the source to the receiver. This time difference is primarily caused by the increasing travel path length as the offset increases. Normal moveout (NMO) is the most common type, used to correct seismic traces to a common zero-offset time for stacking.
