Disaster repairs

In the American Housing Survey, the unit is considered to have been involved in a major disaster if either more than half the home, or more than two rooms, required repairs in the last two years. The sorts of catastrophes involved could include disasters such as severe damage from floods, earthquakes, mud slides, or forest, brush, and other wildfire, tornadoes and hurricanes, and other disasters such as explosions and fires. Also includes damage from broken pipes and grease fires.
