Geographic Identifiers

In the American FactFinder, the codes, names and some basic geographic data relevant to the geography chosen, such as land area, water area, and the center point longitude and latitude.
Using the geographic codes in the geographic identifiers, one uniquely identifies a specific geographic entity, and can link census and survey data to spatial TIGER/Line shapefiles for use in geographic information systems (GIS) software.
