Acceptable Risk

1. The likelihood of suffering disease or injury that will be tolerated by an individual, group, or society. The level of risk that is determined to be acceptable may depend on a variety of issues, including scientific data, social, economic, legal, and political factors, and on the perceived benefits arising from a chemical or process.
2. Risk that has been reduced to a level that can be tolerated by the organization having regard to its legal obligations and its own OH&S policy.
