1. Bedrock is the rock that underlies the soil; it can be permeable or non-permeable. See also Confining Layer.
2. Solid rock that underlies the earth's surface.
3. A general term referring to rock that underlies unconsolidated material.
4. Solid rock underlying the earth's surface.
5. The solid rock beneath the soil and superficial rock. A general term for solid rock that lies beneath soil, loose sediments, or other unconsolidated material.
6. Any solid rock underlying gold-bearing gravels.
