Bimetallic Nanoscale Particle
Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-003104
Particle which has been used to remediate contaminants in soil and groundwater. BNPs consist of particles of elemental iron or other metals in conjunction with a metal catalyst, such as platinum, gold, nickel, and palladium. This combination of metals increases the kinetics of the oxidation-reduction (redox) reaction, thereby catalyzing the reaction which degrades the contaminant.
