Bioassessment

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-003127

  1. 1. A general term referring to environmental evaluations involving living organisms; can include bioassays, community analyses, etc. (Pertains to Ecological Risk Assessments)

    2. Biological assessment; the evaluation of an ecosystem using integrated assessments of habitat and biological communities in comparison to empirically defined reference conditions.

    3. Evaluation of ecosystem condition(s) using biological surveys and other direct measurements of resident biota.

    4. To use the composition of biological communities to evaluate the effects of disturbances (or restorations). A process that uses the taxonomic composition to classify the condition of an ecosystem according to a predefined reference condition.

    5. Evaluation of the biological condition of a waterbody using biological surveys and other direct measurements of resident biota in surface waters.

  2. Evaluation of the biological condition of a waterbody using biological surveys and other direct measurements of resident biota in surface waters.
