Blast Furnace Gas

A combination of gases that can be used as a fuel in certain circumstances. It is produced when iron ore is reduced to metallic iron in a blast furnace. It consists primarily of nitrogen and carbon dioxide with the flammable gases, carbon monoxide and hydrogen present in smaller amounts.
