Bycatch

1. Fish, sea turtles, sea stars and other aquatic animals that are unintentionally caught in fishing gear. Bycatch is usually thrown back into the water dead or dying.
2. Nontarget organisms that are caught in fishing or other harvest operations and are usually discarded.
