1. Product of considerably less value than the major product. For example, the hide and offal are by-products while beef is the major product.

2. Chemical (liquid, gas, or solid) that is produced coincidentally during the production of the product.

3. Chemical substance produced without a separate commercial intent during the manufacture, processing, use, or disposal of another chemical substance(s) or mixture(s).

4. Any chemical substance or mixture produced without a separate commercial intent during the manufacture, processing, use, or disposal of another chemical substance or mixture.

5. Chemical substance produced without separate commercial intent during the manufacturing or processing of another chemical substance(s) or mixture(s).

6. Same meaning as in § 720.3 of this chapter.

7. The EPCRA Section 313 chemical is produced coincidentally during the manufacture, processing, or otherwise use of another chemical substance or mixture and, following its production, is separated from that other chemical substance or mixture. EPCRA Section 313 chemicals produced as a result of waste management are also considered byproducts.
