Capture System

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-004124

1. The collection of components used to capture gases and fumes released from one or more emissions points and then convey the captured gas stream to a control device. A capture system may include, but is not limited to, the following components as applicable to a given capture system design: Duct intake devices, hoods, enclosures, ductwork, dampers, manifolds, plenums, and fans. [40 CFR 63.11151 (CFR 2013)] [40 CFR 63.1459 (CFR 2024)]

2. Equipment (including hoods, ducts, fans, dampers, etc.) used to capture or transport particulate matter generated by an affected electric submerged arc furnace to the control device. [40 CFR 60.261 (CFR 2013)] Equipment (including ducts, hoods, fans, dampers, etc.) used to capture particulate matter generated by the operation of an EAF and transport captured particulate matter to the air pollution control device.

3. Equipment such as sheds, hoods, ducts, fans, dampers, etc. used to collect particulate matter generated by an affected facility at a grain elevator.

4. Equipment (including hoods, ducts, fans, dampers, etc.) used to capture or transport particulate matter generated by an affected submerged arc furnace.

5. One or more capture devices intended to collect emissions generated by a coating operation in the use of coatings, both at the point of application and at subsequent points where emissions from the coatings occur, such as flash-off, drying, or curing. As used in this subpart, multiple capture devices that collect emissions generated by a coating operation are considered a single capture system.

6. One or more capture devices intended to collect emissions generated by a coating operation in the use of coatings and cleaning materials, both at the point of application and at subsequent points where emissions from the coatings and cleaning materials occur, such as flashoff, drying, or curing. As used in this subpart, multiple capture devices that collect emissions generated by a coating operation are considered a single capture system.

7. Equipment used to capture and transport particulate matter generated by one or more affected facilities to a control device.

8. Hood, enclosed room, or other means of collecting organic HAP emissions into a closed-vent system that exhausts to a control device. [40 CFR 63.3310 (CFR 2013)]

9. One or more capture devices intended to collect emissions generated by a coating operation in the use of coatings, both at the point of application and at subsequent points where emissions from the coatings occur, such as flash-off, drying, or curing.

10. Collection of components used to capture gases and fumes released from one or more emissions points and then convey the captured gas stream to a control device or to the atmosphere. A capture system may include, but is not limited to, the following components as applicable to a given capture system design: Duct intake devices, hoods, enclosures, ductwork, dampers, manifolds, plenums, and fans. [40 CFR 63.10906 (CFR 2013)][40 CFR 63.11151 (CFR 2013)][40 CFR 63.11511][40 CFR 63.11522 (CFR 2013)][40 CFR 63.11532 (CFR 2013)]

11. Equipment (including enclosures, hoods, ducts, fans, dampers, etc.) used to capture and transport particulate matter generated by one or more affected facilities to a control device.

12. Equipment (including ducts, hoods, fans, dampers, etc.) used to capture or transport emissions generated by an electric arc furnace or argon-oxygen decarburization vessel to the air pollution control device. [40 CFR 63.10692 (CFR 2013)]

13. One or more capture devices intended to collect emissions generated by a web coating/printing or dyeing/finishing operation in the use of regulated materials, both at the point of application and at subsequent points where emissions from the regulated materials occur, such as flashoff, drying, or curing. As used in this subpart, multiple capture devices that collect emissions generated by a web coating/printing or dyeing/finishing operation are considered a single capture system.

14. Any device or combination of devices that contains or collects an airborne pollutant and directs it into a duct.

15. Equipment (including ducts, hoods, fans, dampers, etc.) used to capture or transport particulate matter generated by an EAF to the air pollution control device. [40 CFR 60.271 (CFR 2013)] The equipment (including but not limited to hoods, ducts, fans, and booths) used to contain, capture and transport a pollutant to a control device. [40 CFR 64.1 (CFR 2013)
