Control System

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-006528

1. A system which senses and controls its own operation on a close, continuous basis in what is called proportional (or modulating) control.

2. Combination of pollutant capture system(s) and control device(s) used to reduce discharge to the atmosphere of HAP or VOC emissions generated by a regulated operation.

3. Combination of capture and control devices used to reduce emissions to the atmosphere.

4. Combination of the closed vent system and the control devices used to collect and control vapors or gases from a regulated emission source.

5. Combination of a capture system and a control device. The capture system is designed to collect and transport air emissions from the affected source to the control device. The overall control efficiency of any control system is a combination of the ability of the system to capture the air emissions (i.e., the capture efficiency) and the control device efficiency. Consequently, it is important to achieve good capture to ensure good overall control efficiency. Capture devices that are known to provide high capture efficiencies include hoods, enclosures, or any other duct intake devices with ductwork, dampers, manifolds, plenums, or fans.

6. Combination of the closed vent system and the control devices used to collect and control vapors or gases from a regulated source.

7. Combination of capture and control devices used to reduce HAP emissions to the atmosphere.
