Causal chain diagram

Term · Environment · MLC-T-ENV-004391

A logical model that specifies how a management action or policy is expected to propagate through the ecosystem to effect changes in the provision of ecosystem services and benefits to various segments of society (also known as a path model or means-end diagram) (Olander et al., 2015). Each causal chain is made up of series of connected input-output relationships, which form the links in the chain. Context: Causal chain diagrams are used to help understand and communicate the various ways in which management actions or policies can affect the ecosystem services provided by nature to humans.
