Chitin

1. A linear polysaccharide of beta-1->4 linked units of ACETYLGLUCOSAMINE. It is the second most abundant biopolymer on earth, found especially in INSECTS and FUNGI. When deacetylated it is called CHITOSAN.

2. A naturally occurring polymer from shells of crustaceans; used for management of soil nematodes ornamentals (garden plants used for beauty), turf, food and non-food crops at residential and commercial areas
