Cumulative Risk

1. The risk of a common toxic effect associated with concurrent exposure by all relevant pathways and routes of exposure to a group of chemicals that share a common mechanism of toxicity.

5. Cumulative risk refers to the accumulation of stressors or exposures that, combined, can cause adverse effects on people and the environment. These collective threats can begin with a single exposure source and carry through all relevant routes over time, resulting in a number of stressors, including biological, chemical and physical.
