1. Hypothesis testing is a statistical technique that uses experimental data to determine whether a hypothesis is incorrect. Most commonly, a hypothesis of no effect is tested by determining whether data as extreme as those obtained in an experiment or more extreme, would occur with a prescribed low probability given that the null hypothesis is true.

2. The relationship between cause and effect is asymmetrical. Cold temperatures cause people to put on more clothes but putting on more clothes will not decrease the temperature.
