1. A term that includes rules, proposed rules, notices, supporting and related materials, public submissions.
2. Recorded information regardless of physical form or characteristics. Often used interchangeably with record.
3. An individual record or an item of nonrecord materials or of personal papers. See also NONRECORD MATERIALS, PERSONAL PAPERS, RECORDS.
4. Any compilation of information that describes, defines, specifies, reports, certifies, requires, or provides data or results pertaining to environmental programs.
5. A document is a set of information designed and presented as an individual entity. A publication is a good example of a document. It may contain logical subunits such as parts, sections, or chapters; but it is typically created, updated, and presented as a single unit. The Web presentation of a document may consist of one or many Web pages.
6. Information set down in any physical form or characteristic. A document may or may not meet the definition of a record.
7. Information and its supporting medium, which can include paper, magnetic, electronic or optical computer disc, photograph or master sample, or a combination thereof. Note: May also be referred to as EMS Document or a SHMS Document.
8. Items included in a docket, such as Federal Register documents, supporting and related material documents, and public submission documents.
